Sara Sneath is an independent investigative climate reporter based in New Orleans. She served in the U.S. Marine Corps and used her Post-9/11 GI Bill to pay for college, where she earned a B.S. in journalism and a B.A. in sociology. She writes about communities on the frontlines of climate change, offshore drilling and oil and gas industry disinformation.
She was a member of the reporting team that won the Society of Environmental Journalists' Kevin Carmody Award for Outstanding Investigative Reporting in 2020 for her work investigating Louisiana's industrial tax exemption program. Sara's work was also honored by the National Association of Science Writers. Her work has been supported by the Fund for Investigative Journalism, Journalismfund Europe and SEJ's Fund for Environmental Journalism.
While reporting on the environment for the Victoria Advocate (Texas), she was named the Local Media Association's Journalist of the Year. As one of the Excellence in News Coverage awards, it is bestowed upon a journalist whose work advances public understanding of life within the communities served and who has a gift for storytelling. During her off time, Sara enjoys riding bikes and exploring with her best four-legged friend, Goose.
